🟡PAN is run on a shoestring with NO consistent funding.
🟡PAN doesn’t have an office.
🟡PAN doesn’t have a phone number.
It’s been a rough few days. We are frequently contacted by people in crisis, but demand has increased even more.
Our purpose is to share about resources and programs that are available to help low-income people in Nanaimo. We are thrilled to do things that support this mission.
However, we simply do not have the capacity for supporting clients by providing gift cards, advocating for them at meetings, offering long term case management, reminding clients to attend appointments, giving rides, searching for available home rentals or contacting the Ministry of Social Development on behalf of clients (all actual tasks that have been asked of us recently).

That’s it. That’s all we can do. Honestly, it’s a lot for a rag-tag team of mostly disabled and retired folks doing unpaid work.
