Have you taken the LEAP?

Please forgive the cheesy headline for this post. I couldn’t resist.

The LEAP Program is the Leisure Economic Access Pass offered by the City of Nanaimo. Thanks to this pass, my son is enrolled in some great Parks & Rec programs that I couldn’t otherwise afford, and we can go swimming frequently, at no cost to me.

It offers the following to low-income families:

🟡50 FREE admissions per person per year for drop-in swimming, skating, weight rooms and drop-in gymnasium programs.

🟡50% off registered programs (maximum up to $40) for all family members up to four times per year per person.

Who can qualify?

🟡Anyone on provincial Income Assistance or Disability.

🟡Recipients of Seniors GIS from the Federal government.

🟡CLBC clients.

🟡Child or youth in ministry care.

🟡Newcomer or refugee.

🟡Family household income on your last notice of assessment below the low-income threshold (see their website for details)

To apply for the LEAP Program for your family, you can go to the front desk at Beban, Nanaimo Aquatic Center, or Oliver Woods with your proof of income or membership in any of the categories listed above (see the website for more info). You can also apply online.
